Zelda Williams reveals all about ‘The Last Worker’ and her favorite games.
Zelda Williams has been away from video games for six years. But 2022’s The Last Worker is her return to the medium. It’s an interesting project. The game is a narrative adventure that revolves around the overzealous automation and destruction of the world.
Mick McMahon, in 2000 A.D. fame, created its striking art style. The Last Worker will be available later in 2022 on PC, Meta Quest 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. It has already won a few industry awards and is a favorite among artists like Sia and Adele.
Williams says, “I can’t give you too much about this game without spoiling everything.” Williams tells us that my character is a rebellious activist with a group called S.P.E.A.R. fighting against automated redundancy. We’ll have to wait until we find out more, but I think all of us could use a little mystery in our lives. The in-game company Jungle is a direct reference to an online retailer that sells everything.
Williams is the daughter of Robin Williams, a comedian, and actor. She had appeared in movies and television shows since 1995 when she was a young dancer in the romantic comedy 9 Months, which also featured her father. The acclaimed 2018 short shrimp, which explored the lives of BDSM workers in Los Angeles, was also directed by Williams. She is best known for her role in 2006’s King’s Quest Chapter III. Zelda doesn’t think two roles in video games are enough.
She says, “I have auditioned for several roles and even done motion capture.” “But I don’t believe the right project is as common as people think. That’s true for both the game creators and the voice-over artists. It’s true for all types of acting. It’s important to realize that you are only one piece of a puzzle when creating something like this.
Sometimes you might not be the right fit. Many people have to audition hundreds of times before they land a job. I am extremely grateful for the V.O. characters that I have been able to play. Strangely enough, people have told me that my voice is so intimidating that they didn’t believe I would be open to projects. This I find quite funny.
Williams’ T.V. voice-over roles include Kuvira in The Legend of Korra and Mona Lisa and Cassandra Jones in different Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. However, she has not been tapped to play the starring role in the new T.M.N.T. game Shredder’s Revenge. “Nope! Ha. She apologizes. “It turns out I am not as well-informed on new games and other topics as people think. But I loved playing Cassandra!”
