Playing is a matter of courseSkyrimMods are used by players to personalize the game’s experience. These can sometimes be used to improve the game or add functionality. Other times, they can be used to create ridiculous effects such as making dragons look like Macho Man Randy Savage. Although a single mod is powerful, multiple mods can make the game completely different. This seems to be the aim of HeavyBurns on Twitter. Skyrim and Dark Souls share very little in common, aside from the fact that they are both fantasy RPGs. These games have completely different settings and styles, making it difficult to find a common ground. Despite this, Skyrim’s open world and dedication to modding make it possible for anyone to make mods, even players who don’t make them like HeavyBurns.

HeavyBurns has not shared much information beyond a teaser trailer for his project to transform Skyrim into Dark Souls. However, a GamesRadar interview reveals more details. HeavyBurns reveals that he tried the same thing last year but couldn’t get the results he wanted with the current mods. HeavyBurns answered the question “There are many creature, weapon, armor and UI mods that I didn’t know about at the time of making this video. Some even have since come out.”

Even for a project of this magnitude, 500 mods may seem a bit overkill to some. There are about 30-40 major mods that modify core gameplay features, add animations or make other modifications. Then there are hundreds of smaller mods that improve visuals, mod compatibility, performance, and such things. These mods all work together to make HeavyBurns’ Skyrim and Dark Souls mashup, which he will show off in a YouTube video, also called Heavy Burns.

HeavyBurns is on YouTube and Twitter. As the showcase draws closer, more information will be available. HeavyBurns shared new screenshots of his modified Skyrim version in addition to the above video tweet.
