Will Call of Duty Vanguard have Skill-based Matchmaking
There are just a few days until Call of Duty: Vanguard is released. Players are still unsure if the game will feature skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). Sledgehammer Games already revealed a wealth information about the new campaign, all new Zombies experience and multiplayer. However, no details have been released on whether SBMM will exist.
There is much to love about Call of Duty titles, but players are not as enthusiastic about SBMM. According to developers, SBMM has been part of the franchise since Black Ops 2. Is this a negative feature or a positive surprise for players? Let’s find out what we know.
What is Skill-based Matchmaking?
SBMM refers to a queuing system used in multiplayer games. To provide fair and balanced gameplay, it groups players with similar skill levels in the same match. This feature analyses the previous performances of players and matches them with players with similar K/D ratios.
When Modern Warfare 2019 introduced SBMM, it became a hot topic. SBMM is controversial because it’s loved by casual players while being criticized by higher-tier players. Every match feels more difficult than it should because the top players are often put in matches against players of similar skill.
Although Sledgehammer Games has not yet released a statement about SBMM in Vanguard, most players know that it will be an integral part the game thanks to the Vanguard beta.
Call of Duty leaker TheMW2Ghost further confirmed the suspicions even before beta launched. They said, “I’m shocked by how many replies and see you asking if SBMM will be in #Vanguard.” “So, YES. They added that it would be in the game, and the same as in Cold War.”
