Nintendo Switch Announces 13 Sentinels: Aegis RIM
13 Sentinels – Aegis Rim has been added to PlayStation 4. Atlus announced that the Vanillaware side-scroller would be available worldwide for Nintendo Switch from April 12, 2022. It will also launch in Japan on April 14, 2022.
This was revealed during 13 Sentinels 2nd-anniversary livestream . Atlus also noted that the original PS4 version will be available on Switch. It doesn’t seem like there is much to expect from Nintendo’s port. However, the livestream also noted that this version comes with limited edition PS4 DLC such as the special files or character artwork. Although the release dates for Japan and worldwide may differ, Atlus showed off some of the new packaging.

13 Sentinels launched on November 28, 2019, in Japan, before being released worldwide in 2020. Vanillaware had originally planned for a PlayStation Vita side scroller but these were abandoned at the end the handheld’s lifespan. So a Switch launch seems like the obvious progression.
I was too busy and didn’t have the time to finish 13 Sendtinels. But what I did play felt like vanillaware’s classic banger. This classic, studio-signature art style harkens back at Odin Sphere and Muramasa which I played endlessly on Vita. Although I enjoyed the older games, 13 Sentinels’ cast and ’80s atmosphere kept me captivated for quite a while. It’s a game I will at least attempt to beat on Switch next year.
