Everyone wants Grand Theft Auto VI to be the most popular game globally. To the point that I am genuinely concerned about the employees at Rockstar Games.

GTA V is still a popular video game, and Red Dead Redemption 2 redefined open-world gaming in terms of scope and detail. This puts a lot of pressure upon the in-development GTAVI,

We know Rockstar is working on the next GTA game, but very little information is available about what to expect. Michael Pachter, an industry analyst, recently posted his wild claims about the game and what he has heard so far.

Before we get any further, I advise that you take these rumours very seriously. Pachter is not always reliable and has been known to make mistakes. Many of the claims he makes about GTA VII sound too good to be true or are in direct contradiction to what other insiders have said.

According to Pachter, GTA VII will have 400-500 hours worth of content and allow players to visit multiple cities in America and Europe. Pachter mentions Los Santos and Vice City as well as London. He also notes that missions will take players to these cities.

He said that GTAVI has been in development since 2014. They may not have been writing code when creating the story, but they were writing code by 2015. Anyone who thinks Rockstar, with its 2000 employees, is sitting around twiddling their thumbs is wrong. These guys are hard at work creating excellent content. GTAVI will take at least 10 years.

It is a mix-up of Vice City and San Andreas and Liberty City and Europe. I’m confident it will include London. You will be able to go anywhere on these continents, and you’ll have missions that take you to all of those places.

“It will probably be four- or five-hundred hour game by the time it’s out. They’re doing that now. That’s how GTAVI has become. They say they will charge 60 dollars and give you an online experience. You’ll need to bring drugs from London to LA and have to pass through Miami. They will do all of this really cool stuff.”

This sounds exciting, but it’s important to remember that GTAVI was a scaled-down affair in response to the crunch reports that surfaced during Red Dead Redemption II development.

Kotaku reported that Rockstar wanted to reduce the GTAVI crunch by launching a more minor, more flexible game. This would allow for future expansions. Tom Henderson, a prolific leaker, stated that the game would likely be held in Vice City at first. He also said that the map would constantly change to add new locations. It is possible that this could include entirely new cities, but I doubt we should expect GTAVI to be anywhere near a 500-hour game at launch. It’s not something that anyone in their right mind would want it to.
