Elden Ring’s Regal Ancestor Spirit Could Be Its Best Moment
You might not be surprised to hear that we have been swept up in the Elden Ring hype as much as anyone else. Thanks to its challenging gameplay and huge open world with so many things to do and see, Elden Ring is a masterpiece. Regal Ancestor Spirit is the game’s undisputed highlight.
Technically, there are two fights. You can fight Ancestor Spirit or the more difficult but rewarding Regal Ancestor Spirit. However, both fights unfold in the same way. They all feel like transcendental odysseys, which are unique to the game. Both fights reward the exploration and curiosity necessary to succeed in Elden Ring.
You will need to visit the Siofra River and the Ancestral woods area of Nokron (The Eternal City) to defeat the Ancestor Spirit or Regal Ancestor Spirit. Many unlit stone obelisks in both areas can be lit by interfacing with them. After you have lit all of the obelisks in each area, travel to the Hallowhorn Grounds, and the huge deer carcass will glow. You can interact with the spirit and fight it yourself.
These bosses are worth fighting for the extra runes and goodies they can give you, especially the Regal Ancestor spirit. The boss can be defeated to unlock a Remembrance which you can cash in to at the Roundtable Hold for new items. Having more instruments of death in an Elden Ring game is always nice, but the best part about the fight is its hauntingly beautiful nature.
Elden Ring is a game that revels in the brutality of its world and its inhabitants. Sites of Grace aside, there is never a moment when you can stop and admire the beauty of The Lands Between. But the Regal Ancestor Spirit, which is majestic, is the exception. The Regal Ancestor Spirit is a stunning moment in a game where you almost only focus on hitting big with your big weapon.
The spirit doesn’t try to overwhelm the player by launching intense attacks. Instead, it is content to dance around the arena with mid-air jumps even more stunning than Torrent. This could be a personal experience. The fight is likely to be the easiest in the game. However, there is a temptation to prolong the fight so that you can see the glory of the spirit.
Yuka Kitamura’s break from the usual orchestral fury soundtrack can only exacerbate this feeling. The game’s boss fights are intense and fast-paced, but the Regal Ancestor Spirit battle feels more peaceful and tranquil than most. This moment is a great moment for emotional reflection in a game that focuses on taking down monsters to increase your number. You feel guilty about defeating the beast. It is hard not to feel guilty.
The deal was sealed when, after I killed the boss, the floor was littered with messages that reflected my feelings at the time: “Didn’t expect tranquility,” “Why is it always sad?” and “Visions in tears”. This moment resonated with many other players and will stay with me for a long period. It’s great to beat bosses like Starscourge Radahn, but it’s impossible to see something so beautiful in the chaos.
