This week, FromSoftware released patch 1.03 for Elden Ring. This significant update brought some important quality-of-life enhancements, weapon balance adjustments, and even some bits of new content.

The patch didn’t go down well with all Elden Ring players. While you cannot please everyone, it seems that you can piss off some people.

The Elden Ring update has its downfalls, I will admit. The patch has made it possible to disable The Sword Of Night and Flame, two of the most powerful weapons in the game. The patch has also made the most powerful and useful summon in the game, the Mimic Tear Ash, considerably less viable. Could I have relied on either of these in my build? You know the answer.

These problems aside, I am happy with the patch’s other features. One of the most useful features is tracking the location and names of NPCs in the game. Elden Ringis an enormous game with many quest NPCs scattered throughout the shop. It’s okay for the game to help you remember where they are.

Evidently, there is. One angry gamer believes that making the game more accessible is bad. Elden Ring‘s most recent patch is the beginning to the end of the game.

Reddit user irate fan believes NPC markers are “the first step to your downfall” This is what I think the author of this post is.

They continue, “All the scrubs who are in need of your assistance can’t use the 100 map markers that you were given.” So now we can see NPC locations. What’s next? A minimap What is a hub for spells? FromSoft is not for me. Since the beginning, these developers have been my support, but now they are giving in to your wishes. It’s only going to get worse. We are sorry for ruining our game scrubs. Return to Elder Scrolls, where you belong.

I am happy to report that the vast majority of the Elden Ringsubreddit agreed that this person was a clown and that the game is still in good condition. As a treat, I may play Elder Scrolls this weekend.
