A Poll reveals that people who work from home are just as likely to play video games as they are to be working.
Although the world has changed dramatically in many, many ways, one thing that is certain to have had the most impact on the world since the pandemic was declared is the fact that many people now work from home. You could be working at your desk with cereal, or even from your bed. There are many options, and I don’t think you should be judged if you choose to participate in any of them.
Here’s the big question: How many of you have played during work hours? This is a safe place. We may have the right answer thanks to ResetEra’s large poll. It seems like many people are guilty.
The poll has just under 1700 votes at the time of writing. Nearly 70% of respondents said they play video games while their employers believe they are working, at the very least in part. 13.9% said that they do this frequently, while another 30.4% stated they do it occasionally, but not very often. There are many more options for polling, but only 32.1% said they don’t play on work time. This is quite telling.
This question was first posed by user Skel1ingt0n. He noticed that many people on their steam friends list were active online during work hours and wondered how common it was. “I started to notice literally hundreds of my friends […] who are constantly starting up video games during work hours. While I am aware that not all people work a straight 9-5 job, I do know that many of these people have a white-collar, 8 am-5 pm office job, and will be playing video games for hours. “Not 45 minutes after lunch – but Elden Ring, Halo Infinite, Tunic or Ark for a couple of hours at a stretch. Often in multiple blocks.”
Gamers confessed to their sins on the thread: Anustart admitted, “Guilty as Charged.” “I do that occasionally. My TV and consoles are right next to my desk so that I can play a few games during downtime. GlitchyDegree said, “I won’t allow work to get backed up for play, however.”
That’s a lot of people out there playing video games right now. Clearly, they haven’t been caught yet. If you have employees, make sure you are offline on Steam.
