The PS1 and PS2 Games that Could Come on The All-New PlayStation Plus
The original PlayStation and its successor are two consoles that are seldom missed. With the good news that PS1 games and PS2 games will finallycoming to PS4/PS5 via the shiny new PlayStation Plus service, when is a better time than now to look at the most wanted games to be made available when it launches in June?
We’ve deliberatelyexcluded the likes of Crash and Spyro before anyone gets at us. The recent remasters have done a great job of keeping the original feel alive. Wouldn’t it be nice to have access to games that you can’t anymore?
Spider-Man (Neversoft, 2000)
Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man game. Neversoft’s 2000 adventure is worth a look for fans of the webhead. Spider-Man really had it all. From large 3D levels full of Easter eggs to a story that featured everyone, from Venom and Scorpion, to Punisher and Daredevil. This is a love letter to the classic Marvel comics in an incredibly playable format.
Parasite Eve 2 – Square Enix, 1999
Most people think of Silent Hill or Resident Evil when it comes to survival horror on PlayStation 2. But Parasite Eve deserves more of the love.
Square Enix was more ambitious and focused than other horror-based titles, but it managed to combine terrifying scares with incredibly robust RPG mechanics in a title unlike any other on the PlayStation. EM
Tomb Raider II Core Design, 1997)
Because everyone should have the opportunity to feel the joy of trapping the butler inside the freezer, it was not to avoid a difficult question. Tomb Raider II is also brilliant, so… that’s it. – EM
Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver (Crystal Dynamics 2000)
Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver combines the best of Metroid and Zelda with many vampires.
Soul Reaver was a remarkable technical achievement. It offered players an amazing (semi-)open world to explore, filled with clever puzzles, great combat and a truly great story. Soul Reaver deserved a lot more attention than it got. This could be its chance at a new audience. – EM
