Metal Dogs Lets You Takedown Monsters As Dogs With Guns
Did you ever play a top-down shooter game and wondered “Where are all the Dobermans?”? We have a game for that.
Kadokawa Games has released a Metal Max spinoff game for dogs to celebrate the 30th anniversary. The Metal Dogs, which is cleverly called, will be released on PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on Friday 8 April. In Japanese, the date can be read as “Shiba”, which is the name of one dog breed you can play as. Pochi, the Shiba, is an established character from Metal Max games and comes with his own back-mounted arsenal. This is his first game.
The spin-off is more Rogue-like than the main games, but it has 300% more dogs than usual. Although it isn’t as well-suited to the genre, you can still die a lot by keeping the weapons, experience and items you have gained.
Choose your dog from one of the three available: a Shiba Pochi bulldog named Bonanza, a Doberman called Bell, or a bulldog named Bonanza. Then, see how far you can make it through the gun-filled world in either hard-core or normal mode. You can also purchase different costumes for your dogs as you battle. Although it is unclear if these costumes provide any kind of defensive or attacking boost for your dog or if they just look cool enough to make you think that a bulldog can be a shark, the trailer does show them as an added bonus.
The physical version will be available only in Japan. However, Metal Dogs has early access on steam.
