Elden Ring Update 1.04 Patches and Patches Make Everything Else More Beautiful
Months after its launch, Elden Ring is still being treated by From Software as if it has just released Patch 1.04. Elden Ring had a significant overhaul in March. Some controversial skills and items (e.g., Mimic Tear and Hoarfrost Stomp) were two of the most controversial items and skills. It also buffs numerous Sorceries and fixed Arcane weapons scaling. Additionally, it patched in quests for NPCs whose stories ended in the middle of nowhere. This update is much the same but primarily impacts Incantations and weapons.
That’s right, folks. The patchwork has been completed.
Patches, a recurring NPC in all modern FromSoft games, is your best friend if you have managed to keep from knowing everyone’s hate favorite character. You are treated like crap by him. You may be pushed down a hole, called names, trapped in strange places, or kicked down another hole. His relentless, cartoonish skullduggery earned him a spot as a fan-favorite character on Dark Souls. It also appears in Elden Ring. It’s only briefly if you know what to look for. After you have reached a specific point in the Volcano Manor questline, he disappears. If you speak with him early enough, he will direct you to a hilarious entrance.
That’s what I thought. Patches isn’t a huge presence in the developer’s games, but he doesn’t usually have an intense story to tell. He is a complete slob. It’s all part of his charm! Now that Patch 1.04 is available for PC and consoles, he has more to tell us.
Although it’s not a significant DLC addition, this is still fun. Kenneth and Nepali, NPCs, felt unfinished. This feeling was evident when Patch 1.03 finally completed their questlines. It didn’t feel as if anything was missing in Patches’ story. He was just Patches. This makes it feel like a nice little bonus two months after the game was released.
This is not the most important news. Surprise, this balance update also made quite a few balance changes. Nothing is quite as devastating as losing all your favorite toys. A lot of stuff got more. There were considerable improvements in weapon skills and chants, as well as animation time and cost. Faith players will be pleased to learn that many underused spells, such as Scarlet Aeonia, now have poise. This means that you can cast these Incantations even if there is a strong breeze. I am excited to use the Ancient Dragon Incantations more. These medium-ranged spells were very relaxed and flashy in the past, but they had such slow windups and so little poise that it was not easy to launch multicolored lightning with any certainty.
However, magic is not the only thing that matters. Colossal Weapons received faster animation times and block rates and improved recovery speeds. One of the most common criticisms of Elden Ring from Dark Souls is that strength-based builds are weak. Enemies can attack you quickly and often with all sorts of bizarre magic. You can now more easily defeat them by hitting them in the face. I am reminded of the Great Sword from Monster Hunter, which doubles as a shield and block rate.
