Nintendo Switch Sports Pro League: What it is, how do you unlock it, and how can you pause it
The Nintendo Switch Sports Pro League is a form of a ranked system that allows players to compete and gives them a goal to strive for. The Pro League is a great way to get back to your Wii Sports favorites of Tennis and Bowling, or if you are just starting out with the franchise.
The Pro League mode of online play allows players to compete against each other in high-level ranked matches. It is similar to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s Elite Smash. The Pro League is open to anyone, but only the most talented players can reach the top.
Unlock the Pro League
It is simple to unlock the Pro League and players will be awarded the Certified Pro designation. Unlocking the Pro League is not about skill, but more about your time. It’s as simple as playing the game. Once the player has played 10 matches online in the sport, the Pro League will be unlocked. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, just 10 matches will count towards your starting rank. This means that everyone can get a chance at the Pro League, even those who aren’t experts in the sport.
Therefore, unlocking the Pro League in one sport doesn’t unlock the Pro League in all other sports. Players will need to make time for each sport. This means that players have the option to focus only on one sport and work their way up, or spread out to play all of them equally.
Twelve ranks make up the Pro League. The player can start at the E rank, and work their way up to the A rank. These are the ranks:
- E
- E+
- D-
- D
- D+
- C-
- C
- C+
- B-
- B
- B+
- A
Pausing Pro League
Notably, any online games will have an impact on the Pro League once it is unlocked. Each online game can either gain or lose points for the player. There is an option to pause or rewind the Pro League. To find Pro Leagues, players can click on the options menu and choose “User Settings”. Players can then switch between “Play Pro” and “Pause Pro” by going to the options in the main menu.
The ability to suspend Pro League allows players to continue playing online, without losing or gaining points. Pausing the Pro League is not a penalty. This allows players to play online and doesn’t affect their rank. You can pause the Pro League individually. This means that some sports can remain in the Pro League while others can be paused to allow for casual play. You can turn the Pro Leagues back on at any time.
Pro League is a way for players to play against each other in a competitive environment. There are no offline options. To participate, players will need the Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Trial Mode won’t allow them access. The game currently features six sports: Tennis, Bowling (Chambara), Football, Badminton and Volleyball. All of these sports are available for Pro League. We expect that the seventh sport, Golf in Fall 2022 will be available for Pro League.
