Dead By Daylight’s new chapter, Roots Of Dread, launches in June

Roots of Dread is the 24th chapter of Dead By Daylight’s long-standing history. It introduces a new Killer and Survivor and a map to the game. This chapter shakes up Dead By Daylight’s formula in some critical ways. The Dredge is the Killer. It’s described as a “formless mass with twisted limbs writhing under the shadows.” However, it has an interesting, unique ability. The Dredge can teleport among lockers to drop the drops on unsuspecting survivors.
Haddie Kaur will now be the survivor. She’s been introduced through the Archives. Haddie, a Canadian-Indian-born child, has had experience with the supernatural.
Although the press release does not mention the abilities she will be able to use; it notes that “Haddie” is one of few Survivors who are prepared to face Killers in Entity’s Realm.” Although it seems she may be able to defend herself from the killer in a limited capacity, that is yet to be confirmed.
The new map, called Garden of Joy and set in a small American town, is complete. The family home is the main building, described as “a haunting symbol of domestic terror set against a cold backdrop.” This could be your new favorite map if you love maps like Haddonfield.
Dead by Daylight’s Creative Director, Dave Richard, stated the following in a press release about Roots of Dread: “We’re delighted to offer our players an original Chapter to celebrate the game’s 15th anniversary.” Dead by Daylight has evolved and diversified tremendously since its inception. Roots of Dread focuses on the core of the game, which is the visceral fear and thrill of the hunt. Dead by Daylight Killers’ first ever creation, the Dredge, is a creepy and strange monster. It lurks in the shadows, hunting survivors from the darkness. This makes it a very intense experience for all.
