Pokémon Go is the Game for all those die-hard Pokemon fans who live by the motto of “Gotta Catch ’em All,” We are here to help you find the hardest-to-find pokemon out there, and that is none other than Ditto.
Ditto is the only shapeshifter pokemon to exist and the trickiest one to find and catch, but by any chance, if that isn’t enough to motivate you, then hearing about a quest will sure do the thing. In Pokémon Go, you will encounter a task in the questline task you can’t resist, A Mega Discovery. We know you can’t resist that, and it has been named a discovery due to the nature of the Pokémon’s nature of disguising.
We have compiled a list of all the tips and tricks that can help you track and catch the only Ditto!
Tips & Tricks
The most frustrating thing about catching a Ditto is that it’s difficult to find one and can often be dismissed on the experience of “I’ve captured this Pokémon before and that it cant be Ditto.” One thing to note is that Ditto is not really effective in battles, and here are a few tips that can help you catch one.
- You will know when you catch one, and it’s impossible to miss it; if the Pokémon you captured is Ditto, then as soon as you capture Ditto, even before you reach the Pokémon page, the process will be interrupted by a huge OH? on the screen. The Pokémon will transfer back into the Ditto’s form.
- If you are on your way to doing the Research Task, we advise you to try catching the 10 Ghost Pokémon first. These two tasks are somewhat interconnected, and usually, after completing the 10 Ghost Pokémon task, there are significantly more chances of capturing Ditto. The number of players (us included) has observed that once you finish these two tasks, the chances of encountering Ditto rise significantly.
- Ditto can mimic every Pokémon and their moves perfectly, and you will not be able to find out anything by observing the attack pattern, but there is something else that you can look out for, which is its health. Ditto has significantly less health than other Pokémon, which is one thing it can’t impersonate, so keeping an eye out for low health can save you a lot of trouble.
Pokémon that Ditto often disguises as
As of August 2022, Ditto can be hiding as any of the following Pokémon:
Ekans*
Gastly*
Spinarak*
Natu*
Surskit
Nummel
Bidoof*
Fineon
Dwebble*
Swirlix
Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny are indicated with an asterisk; however, if a Pokémon appears as Shiny, it will not transform into a Ditto.
