The video game is viewed in the third person from a fixed perspective. Kratos is controlled by the player in platforming elements and combo-based battles. The game features Greek mythology foes such as nymphs and Sirens.
There are also other monsters created for this game. These include ravens and undead barbarians. They were joined by rabid boars and wild hounds. The game includes more boss battles, more challenging puzzles, and many of the same combination attacks as God of War.
To progress through the sections, the platforming requires the player to use ladders and walls to scale, jump over chasms, and balance on beams. The puzzles can be simple like moving a small box to allow the player to jump off it to reach a path that is not accessible with regular jumping.
