Prototype 2 was released on 24 April 2012. It is a sequel to 2009’s Prototype, developed by Radical Entertainment.
Radical Entertainment confirmed that a sequel to Prototype, titled Prototype 2, will be released in 2012 by Activision.
The site Murderyourmaker.com ( “kill your creator”), registered under the Activision name and launched several days earlier on the 6th of December announced the viral marketing campaign for Prototype 2. After the VGA announcement, the site was redirected back to prototypegame.com.
In addition, a trailer was released that shows how Heller will face off against Mercer in order to retaliate for the invasion of New York, which has taken away families and infected them. The gameplay is similar to the 2005 video game The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction, with some similarities in attacks and features.
Prototype 2 is set in New York, the same city that was the location of Prototype. (During the story, the place will be abbreviated NYZ) James Heller is the protagonist of this story. He was on a mission overseas when an epidemic began in New York. Heller calls his family, including his wife and daughter, constantly to keep them updated.
