Vanguard Players Express Their Displeasure Over Recurring Killstreaks
Killstreaks haven’t exactly gone down well among players…
Even though Call of Duty: Vanguard won’t release for several more months yet, its return of Killstreaks instead of Scorestreaks has caused uproar within the community. While Killstreaks were immensely popular with previous iterations of Call of Duty franchise, Scorestreaks proved more versatile by providing players with opportunities to build streaks through playing objectives or scoring assists.
Sledgehammer Games announced at Vanguard’s multiplayer reveal event held September 7th that Killstreaks would replace Scorestreaks as part of its Killstreak system, drawing positive comments from streamers but some gamers remain disgruntled at its return.
Reddit quickly became the place for players to share their opinions about the newly revealed features and gameplay, including Killstreaks which many were unhappy about and which marked “another year ignoring the objective,” with little reward coming for playing its objectives. One user named lulzPIE in particular explained why many were disgruntled over Killstreaks returning – noting they marked “another year ignoring the objective”, in reference to not receiving rewards when engaging the objective itself.
More comments on the post suggested that many players do not care about achieving victory; hence the reason so many often disregard capturing Domination flags or Hardpoint hills altogether. One user attempted to reach an amicable solution by suggesting Scorestreaks should be present only in objective-focused modes and Killstreaks should remain available when an objective is not the focal point.
Unknown is whether Sledgehammer Games will heed feedback regarding Killstreaks but it seems likely they’ll be part of the full release on November 5th.
