PlayStation Plus’ essential tier offerings have recently been revealed and, while they do not make up a particularly impressive list, one gem stands out among them – one many PlayStation owners have long wanted to explore!

Just in case you missed it, there’s still time to download May’s PS Plus lineup: GRID Legends, Descenders and Chivalry II are still available until 5 June and received mixed reviews – though many subscribers deemed Chivalry II worth downloading as they found it to be enjoyable and played more often than other titles available at that time. Starting on 6 June until 3 July the June offerings can be downloaded: NBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Trek to Yomi (the latter particularly being raved-about among fans).

Trek to Yomi, published by Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital and released last year to positive reviews, features a side-scrolling action game developed by Flying Wild Hog that immerses you into Hiroki, an underworld swordsman embarking on an expedition after his village is burned, searching for Yomi (Japanese for “underground”) as his quest. PS Plus subscribers appear especially enthusiastic about it!

Reddit user BeauMeringue212 commented, “Trek to Yomi is exactly the type of game I search out every month when the essential monthly games drop; not necessarily something I would buy but that has beautiful art, isn’t too demanding or time consuming and doesn’t take too much of my attention,” while Reddit user melbrooksbrothers expressed excitement for it as well: “Really looking forward to trying Trek to Yomi. Was really hyped up about it but then forgot!”

Jay12678 expressed their interest in Jurassic World and Trek of Yomi as two titles to check out this month, plus Moriartijs commented “Trek to Yomi looks right up my alley; with so many great games being released every month I simply cannot keep up!” Sherwood has commented “Trek of Yomi boasts beautiful art style which I look forward to exploring myself soon enough!”
