First Diablo 4 hardcore player to reach level 100 permanently loses character following server disconnect
Every now and then there is one game that reigns supreme – most recently it has been The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but now Diablo IV seems to have taken that crown and is all anyone is talking about!
Diablo IV had an uneven start. While reviews for its release were mostly favorable, PlayStation 5 players weren’t granted access on launch day; something that is certainly less-than-ideal. Once that debacle had been addressed, we began hearing of incredible (and less incredible) feats players are accomplishing; earlier this week one player accidentally lost 24 hours of hardcore mode progress due to falling asleep mid-stream; more recently one person suffered the devastating loss of their level 100 hardcore mode character due to server disconnections; both experiences must have hurt deeply!
As reported by PCGamesN, Twitch streamer Souaib “cArn” Hanaf experienced an unfortunate disconnection from Diablo IV servers soon after reaching level 100 on hardcore mode – this must have been deeply distressing as hardcore mode is like permadeath for Diablo 4. Furthermore, Blizzard publicly recognized Hanaf for reaching this landmark achievement!
Hanaf was playing as a Barbarian build, in the midst of leveling further up. While pulling weapons out to attack nearby enemies when his screen abruptly went black. “Hello? Are You Kidding Me?” was all Hanaf could say before being forced back out into character creation screen after trying unsuccessfully for over eighty two hours to log back in again and ultimately reaching level 100 in record time 82 hours of gameplay time was gone forever!
Hanaf was most distressed to hear of Hanaf’s demise by vampire bat, not for Hanaf himself but because almost all his gear has now been collected; another hero has fallen.
