Fortnite fans who appreciate its rich lore may have felt let down during Chapter 4 – Season 2, as movement on that front has been minimal. Content, on the other hand, has seen epic release crossover skin after crossover skin while regularly altering loot pools – thus making Season 2, also known as Mega, one of Fortnite’s strongest seasons overall – but all good things must come to an end eventually!

Fortnite: Chapter 4 – Season 2, more commonly referred to as Mega, is set to conclude on Friday June 9th 2023 at approximately 8 AM BST / 2 AM CT / 1 AM PT and then remain offline until approximately noon UK time – players will also need to download an undoubtedly large patch from Fortnite servers at that point in time.

Thanks to early trailers and leaks, we already know some details about Chapter 4 – Season 2. It will be called Wilds and feature an unexpected map change involving its center collapsing to reveal what appears to be an entirely new jungle biome.

Concerning skins, we’ve already had our first look at some Battle Pass skins; Transformers Optimus Prime may even become Tier 100 due to interactions between Fortnite and Transformers Twitter accounts (in addition to leaks of loading screen images).

Apart from that, Chapter 4 Season 3 remains something of an unknown quantity; we don’t yet know whether Primal-inspired survival mechanics will return, or if just adding an impressive jungle biome is enough. Furthermore, no word yet on first-person mode coming as part of Season 3, although Epic could reserve that feature until Chapter 5.

Season 2 will certainly leave us in suspense; its overall impact will be interesting to witness. While we have witnessed plenty of exciting branded content – Attack on Titan and more Spider-Man skins were welcome additions – some players found some original stuff lacking, particularly Ranked which failed to go over well among some fanbase members. Furthermore, updates seem to take away fun items unnecessarily thus creating more tension within Season 2, so here’s hoping Epic finds an effective balance in Season 3.

One thing is sure: we hope they keep in the ability for bot lobbies – with player bases these days becoming so sweaty they require towels!
