Steam RPG Offers Refunds After Delays Over Multiple Years
Steam RPG which had originally planned on being released several years earlier is offering refunds to preorders who received it before delays prevented its launch.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is the long-awaited sequel to 2004 game Vampire: The Masquerade, which had an uneven launch with only selling 100,000 copies despite favorable reviews by critics and fans alike. Competition from similar games such as Half-Life 2, Halo 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater led to significant drops in sales that year – further decreasing profits of this initial title.
After an extended hiatus, production on the sequel began again and has seemingly stalled ever since. Officially announced in 2019, with an initial target release date set for 2021… this didn’t pan out well at all.
After several delays, Paradox Interactive finally issued an update in a blog post announcing: “After months of hard work on Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines game development, we remain as committed as when first announced and look forward to showing it all off at PAX West this September!”
This announcement came complete with screenshots showing gameplay proving that development had taken a considerable leap towards full release.
Unfortunately, Paradox’s response comes too little too late for fans who pre-ordered Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in 2020 but have yet to receive their copy three years later. They addressed this wait in their statement by offering refunds of any edition purchased preorder of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
As part of this process, we are actively refunding pre-orders of physical products such as the Collector’s Edition. Digital versions such as First Blood Edition, Unsanctioned Edition and Blood Moon Edition remain but can also be returned if preferred.”
Fans are hopeful the sequel to Fifa 17 will live up to expectations, while many might take advantage of refunds being available and leave.
