Titanfall 3 was in development for 10 months prior to being cancelled, according to developer Respawn Entertainment.
There are certain series that barely justify sequels while there are others which enthrall viewers so thoroughly that fans crave for more, one such series being Titanfall which fans desperately yearn for more of! Unfortunately it was once disregarded.
Respawn Entertainment released Titanfall for PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One back in 2014. Receiving scores between 80 to 85 on Metacritic for its high-octane mech multiplayer action gameplay, Titanfall received considerable acclaim among critics and players alike.
But Titanfall had one major flaw – no single player campaign to keep players interested over time, especially before live service began on consoles. So when Titanfall 2 arrived in 2016, not only did it expand upon its multiplayer to become even bigger and better but it included an excellent single player campaign featuring protagonist Jack Cooper and Titan BT-7274; truly an emotional story to get involved in now while its low price makes this experience irresistible! If this game sounds appealing then go play now; you won’t regret it!
Titanfall 2 earned Metacritic scores as high as 89 and as such earned its fans much praise, leading them to expect another game set within this universe. Unfortunately, due to leaks and rumours surrounding Titanfall 3 still being announced today by EA/Developers/Publisher has chosen instead Apex Legends set within Titanfall universe as their focus title instead.
EA declared Titanfall 2 a commercial failure despite moving four million copies by 2017, leading some analysts to cite disappointing sales as one of the key reasons behind EA’s decision to drop this franchise. Yet considering that EA published Battlefield 1, amongst others, only months before Titanfall 2, any game released at that point might suffer significantly more – especially considering it launched so soon after Titanfall 2.
Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella recently expressed interest in seeing Titanfall 3 produced one day; unfortunately, video game industry talk can often prove futile. Fans have suspected Titanfall 3 development during some point or another and its cancellation further frustrated us all – however according to Insider Gaming (via The Burnettwork), an ex-developer at Respawn claims Titanfall 3 had been under consideration for 10 months prior to being decidedly scrapped altogether by Mohammad Alavi of Respawn Entertainment, so fans almost got what they longed for: another chapter for our favourite trilogy
“Here’s an insane story…After Titanfall 2 came out and did what it did, we said we wanted to create Titanfall 3, so for 10 months or so,” stated Alavi. However, development teams struggled to make Titanfall 3 revolutionary after having worked so long on Titanfall 2. Additionally, Alavi noted difficulties keeping players engaged through multiplayer gameplay for years on end.
With PUBG and the rise of battle royale genre, our team quickly created a concept map with Titanfall 3 classes; eventually this project would morph into Apex Legends without mechs; while Apex Legends continues its success within its genre, without another installment from Titanfall there will always remain an empty spot left until we finally see those beloved mechs once again.
