High On Life DLC High On Knife has swapped out humor for horror.

High On Life is an interesting game; released last December for Xbox and PC, its comedic FPS mode pits players against aliens trying to use humanity as drugs while aiding humanity with weapons that never stop talking – something you may have witnessed when first released online or broadcast by news media outlets like HBO and CNN. You likely saw clips or heard mention of it from somewhere when first launched; indeed it became ubiquitous over time!

However, in March it was confirmed that High On Life would receive its very own DLC expansion: High On Knife. Squanch Games CEO Mike Fridley revealed on Xbox Wire that this DLC unsurprisingly centers on Knifey (never mind his unfortunate name!) who receives an unexpected package two years post-event of the base game. Furthermore, during yesterday’s Xbox Games Extended Showcase event we got another trailer which showcased something altogether less comic than before: this looks considerably creepier!

Fridley recently confirmed that this DLC will be “spooky this time around”, hinting that fans can expect body horror elements. Additionally, some may experience their dreams being temporarily crushed as part of this experience.

Since High On Life launched last November, players worldwide have shown tremendous enthusiasm and passion in playing our game,” Fridley wrote. “Their commitment and support show there’s still room in this market for games like High On Life!”

Justin Roiland (co-creator of Rick and Morty), Squanch Games founder and former employee stepped down after allegations of abuse were levelled against him at their games studio, Squanch Games. Criminal charges against Roiland were later dropped against him this March.

High on Knife will launch as a paid expansion in autumn later this year on both Xbox and PC platforms.
