Warriors fans launched an initiative to make original game playable on modern consoles.
Fans have demanded that 2005 Rockstar beat-em-up game The Warriors be made playable on modern Xbox consoles.
The Warriors is an action adventure game inspired by the 1979 movie of the same name and provides players with a series of violent street battles against New York gangs in melee combat, much like seen in the film itself. Released for both original Xbox and PlayStation 2, its gameplay and faithfulness to its source material were met with positive reviews; after its initial launch it received rerelease on PlayStation 3 and 4, but not modern Xbox consoles due to lobbyist pressure; fans continue campaigning to have this changed!
An initiative has been started in support of The Warriors being released once more on Xbox One and Series X/S consoles; its petition currently holds over 300 signatures and continues its growth towards 500 signatures. According to its description, The Warriors remains “one of the greatest underrated titles ever, Rockstar Games most undeserved title; therefore it should be preserved and made backward compatible for future generations to enjoy it’s perfection as movie based game ever! Microsoft/Rockstar please make [this title backward compatible”
I would own PS2, were it not for two recent petitions calling for The Warrior’s return. Another fan recently launched their own petition asking Rockstar to remake this Rockstar title with full HD remaster features instead; unfortunately this possibility may never come about, since Rockstar is more likely to remake one of its more well-known titles, like Grand Theft Auto IV or Red Dead Redemption instead.
Truth be told, it would be fantastic for Rockstar to bring back The Warriors on another console platform or remake it entirely, or bring back other forgotten series like Bully or Manhunt as well.
