What platforms is Unturned compatible with?
Unturned is currently taking Steam by storm and we want to find out whether its popularity transcends platforms. Given that multiplayer gameplay is key in Smartly Dressed Games’ hit title, PC gamers might join with console users for multiplayer action on both devices; and vice versa.
We will cover whether Unturned supports crossplay progression to move save files across platforms and the implications that has for progression and save files.
Does Unturned support cross-platform play? Unfortunately not. Though released both for PC and console platforms, their versions differ enough that matchmaking does not link directly between them.
So if you’re a console player hoping to jump in Unturned with friends on PC, that won’t work either – this sort of cross-platform play has simply never been intended as both releases are distinct entities; console is less customisable and doesn’t support custom servers and modes like its PC equivalent does; as such don’t hold out hope that cross-platform gameplay might make its debut any time soon in Unturned!
Do we support crossplay progression in Unturned?
Unfortunately, no. Your game progress won’t carry over between PC and console versions of Unturned; while this won’t have any drastic ramifications for gameplay experience or playthrough progress. Should you opt to join your friends playing different versions, starting over will likely require starting the entire experience over again from scratch.
Unturned’s successor could change its crossplay stance in response to Fortnite and Call of Duty’s success, both games that allow all consoles and platforms to join players together on one map, likely ranking high among player expectations for any sequel.
