Red Dead Redemption fans fear its re-release following GTA Trilogy’s debacle as release plans remain unknown.

Fans have expressed serious worries that any remake of Red Dead Redemption could suffer the same fate as Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy. With good cause.

Rockstar Games leakers have reported an imminent remake of Red Dead Redemption with the Red Dead Redemption 2 game engine, according to prominent leakers.

Though reports have pointed towards it being a remake, not a remaster, fans remain concerned it may follow in the footsteps of GTA: Trilogy-The Definitive Edition by being buggy and underdeveloped.

GTA: Trilogy was an ambitious remaster that updated 20-plus-year-old graphics of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas games to look more contemporary. Fans were disappointed not only due to outdated visuals that somehow worsened gameplay; there were also numerous bugs and glitches which rendered many missions unplayable.

Fans likely do not wish to repeat such an experience with Red Dead Redemption, especially given its critical reception.

Fans discussed their anxieties in an impassioned Reddit thread entitled, “This Is Why I Will Get Anxious If Rockstar Releases A Remaster Of Red Dead Redemption”, complete with images showing its horrific gameplay remaster.

Many fans believed a remake would be necessary when returning to Red Dead Redemption’s initial installment, any less would simply waste their time and be pointless.

“Let this movie die with dignity instead of trying to remake it again, however. Though, a proper remake would still be nice!”

“They wouldn’t need to do much remastering; most of Red Dead Remastered 2 was already revamped; thus taking much of what has already been completed and applying it towards this remake; then charge 70$.”

“I don’t want a remaster for the same reasons a remake exists; that would be better.”

Though no official announcement of a remake for Red Dead Redemption has yet been made, fans remain hopeful for John Marston to return and voice actor Rob Wiethoff has expressed an interest in returning for such an endeavor as well as Red Dead Redemption 3 should Rockstar decide to create it.
