Xbox has accidentally announced a PlayStation console!

New video game consoles are as inevitable as Thanos himself.

Unexpected is its announcement by an unlikely source – here, Microsoft seems to have announced on Sony’s behalf an entirely new PlayStation console.

Sony has produced at least one revised console revision since 1994 when they introduced their original PlayStation. We can expect Sony to do just this with PS5, given all of its previous console iterations: small and powerful models alike or something in-between; we expect no different with our next gen console, PS5. Rumours regarding either Slim or Pro models have already started spreading across social media networks like Reddit.

As reported by Kotaku, during Microsoft and FTC court hearings aimed at stopping their $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft claims Sony plans on releasing an 8GB PS5 Slim by late 2023 with an expected retail price of US$399.99 (approx. PS315).

As part of their court case testimony, Sony also claims they plan on releasing not only a revised model of their current console before year end but also offering an affordable handheld version (under $300 or PS235) of it for gamers on-the-go.

No doubt this report shouldn’t be treated as gospel; nonetheless there may be something truthful behind these claims. Sony announced they’re working on releasing a handheld streaming device instead of another PS Vita as per Microsoft’s prediction.

Sony hopes that any official PS5 Slim or Pro announcements will take place during its PlayStation Showcase event and not in court against Microsoft; at least that is their hope.
