Mortal Kombat 1 Roster: All Confirmed Characters and Kameo Fighters

NetherRealm and Warner Bros. have announced Mortal Kombat 1, unveiling an entirely new world that’s been created by Fire God Liu Kang at the conclusion of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath. In this reimagined MK universe we’ll see fan favorite characters or “kombatants”, like Scorpion or Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat 11 reimagined with new backstories or altered rivalries; with that in mind we have created this roster list so you know exactly who will appear once your hands on September releases this game will have dropped!

Mortal Kombat 1 – Confirmed Kombatants So far we’ve only seen a CGI trailer of Mortal Kombat 1, but even that has revealed many characters set to debut at launch – these include as follows.

Johnny Cage, Kitana and Kung Lao. Liu Kang as Mileena Raiden Rain Scorpion as supporting characters are featured here as well as Johnny Cage with Kitana; Kung Lao is represented as Liu Kang for Mileena and Raiden with both having distinct identities as part of her personae.

Shang Tsung will be available as pre-order exclusive DLC (like Goro or Shao Kahn from previous MK games). Smoke and Sub-Zero may also make appearances.
Mortal Kombat 1’s official FAQ notes a new gameplay mechanic called Kameo Fighters which allow for customisation during combat and combo assistance during matches. Players will have access to this roster of partner characters during battle to help assist with combos or any other aspect.

In theory, Mortal Kombat 1’s Kameo Fighter feature may sound similar to Marvel Vs Capcom or Skullgirls in that players form teams before calling upon other members for aid during battle. Unfortunately though, Mortal Kombat 1 does not seem likely to feature tag mechanics found elsewhere such as MvC; therefore it seems more similar to anime titles like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm where players have unique rosters of partner characters they can call on during combats.

As of writing, no Kameo Fighters had been confirmed, though NetherRealm Studios promised more details would become known in due time.

Mortal Kombat 1 will likely adopt an innocuous character addition strategy when it comes to adding characters from its roster of familiar names like Kano, Sonya Blade and Jax. As part of its modern makeover of Mortal Kombat franchise, its roster should feature more recognisable versions rather than trying to introduce Mokap or Meat into it again – so we should expect characters such as Kano, Sonya Blade and Jax instead of Mokap or Meat being brought back into it all at once.

Still, Mortal Kombat 11 introduced some newcomers that quickly become fan favorites among players: D’Vorah and Kotal Kahn in particular have proven popular with many gamers since Mortal Kombat X and MK 11 came out. We could possibly see these characters make another appearance in Mortal Kombat 1 alongside legacy Kombatants such as Sagat.

Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19th for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
