Destiny 2’s Latest Problem Is Causing Players Worries (Literally).
Yesterday saw Bungie finally deliver its long-awaited midseason patch for Destiny 2, following several server issues which resulted in downtime during its roll out. Yet not once could players stop complaining after updating: these included broken mods, King’s Fall raid crashing the game, quest progress being locked or quest progress being frozen; one of the more frequently reported issues on Twitter being audio issues within Destiny 2.
Players seem to be reporting issues with high-pitched sounds in Destiny 2, rendering crackly and distorted, creating an unpleasant audio experience in Destiny 2. This phenomenon appears independent of user setup as reports show it occurring both console and PC users alike. Twitter reports show some sounds playing too loud while other like the Hunter Shatter Dive or Tormentor Spawn effects in Root of Nightmares may barely be detectable at all.
Some users have reported that setting their FPS to 30 has provided some temporary relief from audio issues in Destiny 2, though we wouldn’t be surprised to discover it is related somehow to Destiny 2’s frame rate; previously numerous bugs related to unintentionally high enemy damage levels have been associated with FPS issues.
Bungie has addressed various issues since releasing Destiny 2 last November, such as unwarranted Crucible and Gambit suspensions; however, their Help account has yet to address audio in Destiny 2, perhaps in this week’s TWAB post? Either way, Destiny 2 has experienced numerous bugs and unexpected downtime episodes recently that has kept players away.
