EA Sports FC: its hilariously terrible first look has drawn criticism.

Unfortunately, EA Sports FC’s first trailer has met a disappointing reception since its unveiling a mere week ago – no small task following on from FIFA series’ incredible success! It didn’t inspire much confidence.

FIFA and EA parted ways last summer, marking an historic event in gaming. Soon thereafter it was revealed that they would reboot it as EA Sports FC; we first caught sight of this reboot earlier this year when EA unveiled some initial branding details; more recently we’ve seen more. Yesterday EA released their inaugural trailer of EA Sports FC alongside cover art options; some players expressed disappointment over some questionably realistic character models within it.

FIFA games traditionally avoided using in-game character models as cover art; instead they featured real world images. Not so with EA Sports FC which has caused much discussion on Reddit: Rumbleinthejungle8 commented “Some of those faces are hilariously terrible”, another user added “My poor boy Saka, what have they done” while Outsider1624 responded “Ridiculous I say. We finally have consoles powerful enough and yet this comes up. You could mistake this DLC pack for The Sims 4 Soccer!”

May1stBurst wrote “Wow, that looks terrible!” while DZLars added, “Pirlo has seen some unsavoury things… Yikes… Yikes…” I wonder if EA will alter their artwork based on these reactions?

Unfortunately, the trailer did not meet expectations either: viewers tweeted out comments such as, “EA never disappoints when it comes to disappointing us!” One viewer added a positive point by noting “This will either end EA’s legacy or start one all on its own! With such high stakes for EA that puts immense pressure on them but nevertheless there remains hope among FIFA fans even if only faint hope remains.”
