Bungie Details Season of the Deep Mid-Season Update

Bungie provided details regarding weapon modifications coming to Destiny 2 Season of the Deep’s mid-season update via their Weapon Tuning Blog post, starting July 18th when this mid-season update launches. Here is some insight as to what changes players can anticipate seeing!

Bungie announced during their Season of the Deep mid-season tuning that pulse rifles received a slight reduction. By decreasing auto-aim cone width by 10%, those with low aim assist stat will become less forgiving – an estimated reduction of 10%. Lightweight bows were given some buffs as well, to increase range: their distance at which damage falloff begins increased from 15m to 25m while damage falloff end distance increased from 20m to 45m and final accuracy by 10%.

Also, lightweight shotguns have been upgraded, with their outer pellet spread angle reduced by 15% – helping it easier to deal full damage each shot while aligning more closely with other archetypes of shotguns. Shayura’s Wrath’s dynamic reticle has also been modified in order to clear up sight picture and lessen opacity obfuscation issues.

Bungie also detailed changes it made to Exotic weapons this season, specifically with regards to Graviton Lance pulse rifle and No Time To Explain Exotic pulse rifle nerfs. Graviton Lance saw its PVE damage increased by 67% while its PVP glory has taken a significant hit through a 40% decrease to Cosmology explosion damage against players, while No Time To Explain Exotic pulse rifle was slightly nipped with Bungie decreasing range by 10, potentially impacting damage done when fighting distant targets; and Fighting Lion received a bug fix that restored functionality of its catalyst;

As perk modifications go, Gutshot Straight and Slickdraw were both improved significantly; Bungie found itself dissatisfied with initial stats so reduced Gutshot Straight’s auto-aim penalty by 37.5% while Slickdraw saw its reduced by 35%; Target Lock’s maximum damage grant when damaging players has also been limited from 40% down to 25% – both changes being welcome additions!

Season 22’s Sandbox updates focus primarily on damage falloff distance. To see all available data regarding damage falloff statistics, visit Bungie’s post here.

Hand cannons will receive faster reload speed and an increase in damage against minor and major enemies to improve PVE activities. Furthermore, in Season 23 the developer plans on increasing glaive base projectile speeds, decreasing delay between firing and melee attacks, as well as changing how shield energy is obtained.

Bungie hasn’t provided many specifics about Season 22 and 23, so we will keep you up to date as more becomes known.
