Since Tears of the Kingdom debuted, Legend of Zelda fans have dedicated an extraordinary amount of their energy and focus to exploring Hyrule and enjoying everything its beautiful terrain can provide them.

While some players have taken up speedrunning the game and developing mods that give Link his very own Gloom Hand or add randomness into his adventures, many others have become drawn in by its allure of building complex contraptions.

So far, these astounding Hylian engineers’ marvelous creations have ranged from unleashing waves of destruction on enemies to driving along cavern ceilings. Now however, one group has embarked on an ambitious quest to take their builds even further by unearthing every detachable item available within the game.

What has been your most interesting Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom build to date?

These talented architects from Hyrule Engineering Club Discord Server have taken to calling themselves the Hyrule Detachable Parts Division, or H.D.P.D for short. As stated by user MiztrSageTOTK-Only on Reddit’s Hyrule Engineering subreddit page recently. Their mission statement can be read below.

“Our group is doing all it can to dislodge seemingly unobtainable parts from all corners of Hyrule,” they stated, providing as an example their discovery of a railing which, once separated from its platform home, turns into a fusible object once separated – something the group have long desired but has found hard to attain.

As part of their initiative, this group has initiated a subreddit called r/HDPD with over 1k members that records all their efforts to detach fan blades, turbine parts and doors from vehicles.

Some groups are considering compiling an exhaustive spreadsheet cataloguing each detachable part found and their method for disassembling, which should prove quite an undertaking.

Now if you want to join their efforts in disassembling half of Hyrule gradually, the group recommends posting clips of your findings on HDPD subreddit so everyone can share engineering expertise and work towards fulfilling this mission together.
