An affection for nostalgia runs deep these days; just take a peek at Metacritic to view 2018’s most highly rated games – there’s been an astonishing number of remakes, remasters, and re-releases among them!
Metroid Prime Remastered remains in second place, followed by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition’s physical release at number four, Resident Evil 4’s remake also makes the top 10, with Dead Space sitting slightly further down at 18. We shouldn’t expect this trend to end anytime soon as more nostalgia-fuelled projects such as Silent Hill 2, Alone in the Dark, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater are coming soon – as is an unforgettable fan remaster of Wipeout that you can experience now for free – check it out right now to experience this phenomenal remake now for free: Wipeout has come full circle back!
Wipeout was first released for PS1 back in 1995 by Psygnosis. A futuristic racer set in 2052 and competing in an F3600 anti-gravity racing league, Wipeout received critical acclaim and inspired multiple sequels including 2097 and 64.
As reported by DSOGaming, fans of Wipeout have taken it upon themselves to revitalize it with Wipeout Phantom Edition on GitHub – an enhanced and remastered version created by user wipeout-phantom-edition that runs exclusively on PC; unfortunately it cannot run on PlayStation, though as modded remaster it should still provide plenty of nostalgic fun! With files not demanding too much resources it should provide plenty of opportunity for enjoyment!
The Phantom Edition brings with it new music and sound effect system updates, improved graphics, widescreen support, additional options menus, customisable music tracks and additional options menus – you may require files for USA PlayStation release of game but the creator provides details here on how you can access full remaster! Enjoy it.
