Insider reports indicate Far Cry 7 will take place in South Korea.
According to an anonymous insider, development on the next Far Cry game could already have begun, though fans remain divided as regards to its alleged setting and plot.
Far Cry 6 released in 2021 and featured Giancarlo Esposito as Anton Castillo; so while we may not feel it’s been too long since Far Cry’s last entry was out there is good to hear something may be in development behind-the-scenes!
As reported on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, an anonymous insider has come forward with what they claim are details regarding Far Cry’s seventh game, Rise. Unfortunately it’s difficult to know whether any credibility exists behind such claims at present so be wary when taking their word seriously.
Rise is said to take place on an isolated tropical island called Kimsan in Yellow Sea. An insider’s synopsis indicates that North Korean insurgents, led by Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae (from Squid Game), have overrun it, forcing gamers to play as male or female Korean idol characters fighting off an uprising on Kimsan – fighting both to survive themselves as well as protect their sibling from further danger from insurgencies on this remote tropical paradise.
According to reports, Rise’s main campaign will support co-op play with up to four people at once; additionally an open world extraction mode called Far Cry: Conquest will launch simultaneously for solo or multiplayer play with 90 enemy opponents present – offering narrative-based missions while fighting for survival against them all.
Redditors weren’t too thrilled about these supposed details: Dry_B0nes wrote on Reddit that these details “aren’t real or should be faked”, while Equivalent_Network29 commented “was hoping they’d move away from tropical island setting if mechanics and gameplay remain identical to previous installments, helped 5 feel fresh in my opinion [in his view],” etc.
At this writing, Ubisoft had not confirmed this information.
