PlayStation announces a stunning new console
Insomniac Games’ panel at San Diego Comic Con yesterday was for the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and they did not disappoint.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will undoubtedly be the PlayStation’s most anticipated first-party title. We don’t know what else is in store. Sony, announce something. Please. We’re getting closer to the final countdown. The game will take place in a few new boroughs in New York. According to reports, the map is twice as big. The game will allow players to change between Miles and Peter instantly during the free roam. The team revealed a new Spidey story trailer at the SDCC and announced that you will soon be able grab a Spidey PlayStation 5.
Sony and Insomniac Games announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enthusiasts will be able get their hands on either a themed DualSense Controller, or cover plates. Or, they can purchase a bundle including both the actual PlayStation 5 and game.
On the PlayStation Blog, the team hinted that it would be “one the most formidable challenges our two Spider-Men will face”. This design shows the symbiote consuming Peter Parker. The black tendrils on the front plates threaten to overwhelm the Spidey classic red, while the symbiote is completely in control of the plate’s back. The DualSense controller has a similar design.
The design is inspired by the game symbiote, which takes over consoles and controllers. However, you can see the red underneath the tendrils,” explained senior art director Jacinda. This represents how players can experience the takeover of the console and controller by the symbiote in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The outcome of the struggle for dominance, whether internal or external, is uncertain.
They also discussed some PS5-specific features that the game would take advantage of, including the ability to pinpoint sounds such as bio-electric attacks and deadly enemy attacks through 3D audio and feel the web-swinging action via DualSense’s tactile feedback.
The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5 console bundle includes a voucher that allows you to download a digital version of the game instead of a physical copy. The US, UK and France will open pre-orders on the 28th of July. This item will be available on 1 September.
