PlayStation accidentally unveils stunning new shooter from District 9 director early.
Sony may have revealed by accident a very promising looking shooter from the director of District 9. Oopss! It happened.
Gunzilla Games may finally have revealed what they’ve been working on: last August they revealed they’d collaborated with District 9 director Neill Blomkamp to produce Off The Grid as an online battle royale shooter utilizing Unreal Engine 5. Since then we know little of its exact specifications or gameplay screenshots; now thanks to listing on PlayStation Store we get our first glimpse.
Sony PlayStation listed Off The Grid on their storefront yesterday and later removed all screenshots attached to it, however they were captured by Gematsu and remain as part of its description: “Throne for supremacy among three megacorps in an immersive next-gen battle royale game conceived by Neill Blomkamp that blends PvP and PvE elements into an epic survival experience across an expansive cyberpunk landscape!”
“Take part in an immersive 60-hour narrative campaign set on Teardrop Island with 150 players battle royale style at once!” stated the press release. “Build your ultimate character by extracting high value loot off Teardrop Island or unlock unique abilities by altering your body during gameplay sessions to equip yourself with unique powers during battle royale sessions with teammates – you could experience first hand how this genre evolves together!” You can view captured screenshots below for yourself!
Though Off The Grid appears promising on paper, there may be one downer: earlier this year it was reported that GunZ, an NFT platform designed for Off The Grid may feature in it. Since its implementation has not occurred and with NFT market volatility having substantially reduced since, we don’t know for certain whether this idea has been shelved – nor when its release will occur; no official date for Off The Grid exists as of yet.
