Sometimes there’s simply no pleasing the masses online, and vocal communities usually don’t hesitate to express themselves when it comes to Call of Duty.

Even though nothing official has been confirmed yet, one of the worst-kept secrets recently has been that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will arrive this year as a sequel to its reboot which premiered last year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was initially thought to be an expansion to MWII; however, its release has taken an entirely different form and stands on its own. Fans should find this pleasing; its predecessor from 2011 is much loved for its multiplayer offerings.

Taken historically, when Activision unveils new Call of Duty games they tend to make initial announcements through social media posts with profile image changes followed by artwork reveal before full trailers are shown off to the world.

Unfortunately for Activision, its Modern Warfare III artwork had already leaked prior to official unveiling – and fans have already expressed negative sentiment towards MWIII even before its official release date!

Redditor Earthbound_Fan shared what may have been leaked images via Twitter account @Earthbound_Fan, prompting an outcry among fans over “Modern Warfare III key art leaked,” posted Redditor M1n3c7afty to share his disappointment about what may be considered as leak.

“Absurd to think this game could become full retail!” exclaimed DaftNeal88 in shock, while BNS0 lamented, “this sh** was supposed to be DLC for MWII!” Furthermore, some fans seem disgruntled by its leaked artwork: MrDayvs complained “looks like they are trying too hard at trying to be edgy”, while SimpleDose mentioned its similarities to an iOS application logo.

At the core, art appreciation is ultimately subjective and up to each individual viewer to decide. That being said, even though Modern Warfare III started off life as an expansion pack, if its RRP remains similar and still provides the same amount of content, then fans might accept it with open arms; otherwise it might prove less appealing as an experience altogether.

Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg have recently been confirmed as playable Operators in Warzone following speculation, while Modern Warfare 2 servers have been taken offline due to hacker activity.

At present, no concrete release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III exists yet but we expect it to hit PC, PlayStation and Xbox within this year.
