Some critics of current generation consoles have labeled it as an unmitigated failure due to more previous-gen ports being announced than anticipated.

Since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was just recently confirmed for release on PS4 and Xbox One – something nobody had anticipated – many may be taken aback at its confirmation! Prior to its April debut on PS5 and Series X/S consoles it had already been known that previous-gen consoles would not receive it so that developers can create an optimal new-gen experience for players; although disappointing to those without access to either platform this decision made sense; nevertheless it made me sad when people didn’t receive one either way!

Respawn Entertainment can now fully focus on optimizing its title for new-gen consoles prior to initial release and continue expanding Cal Kestis’ journey by making sure more people experience his latest adventure – although some critics may still not approve.

Following Sony’s announcement, many gamers took to social media platforms such as Twitter to voice their dissatisfaction at the state of current console generation: one person wrote, “We must acknowledge our failure of current console gen.”

Others feel similarly: one Twitter user posted: “Thanks, three years in and still very few games take advantage of current gen capabilities, plus they raised costs,” while another tweeted that part of the problem lies with diminishing returns between generations when it comes to graphics; most consumers can’t tell the difference between this generation and last when it comes to aesthetics – so upgrading is often unnecessary”, stated another person. Another user responded with: “Failure is harsh but inevitable… while there are great games out there on new systems there are very few that justify spending $500+ but hopefully this experience will teach them important lessons”, another responded user replied in reply.

Fair to say, exclusive new-gen games remain relatively few in number; though this number is slowly growing. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will release exclusively on PS5 later this year; hopefully those currently dissatisfied will come to appreciate their pricey new-gen console purchase sooner rather than later.
