Baldur’s Gate 3 Warlock classes often conjure images of powerful spellcasters who draw their powers from pacts with various entities, while Martially inclined players don’t feel left out and may still opt for Pact of the Blade which developer Larian Studios plans on adding elements from Hexblade subclass as part of this path.
Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t feature a complete Hexblade subclass at launch, yet certain aspects will transfer over to Pact of the Blade as an important option in our playthroughs. It should definitely be given serious thought.

“Warlocks must select an accord or Pact; one such pact is the Pact of the Blade, which allows them to devote themselves more heavily towards weapons by creating their own Pact Weapon and so forth; however, one component that was missing in Warlock’s Pact wasn’t allowed: extra attack is usually available through martial classes where as Warlock’s don’t.” – Lead Systems Designer Nick Pechenin in an interview with Multiplayer.it via Google Translate.

“To counterbalance weapons that were imbalanced around an equal number of attacks per turn, we implemented this element to enhance the pact of the blade and make gameplay more dynamic and interesting.

Pechenin confirmed the Hexblade will not feature at launch of the RPG; however, she stated that developer “absolutely researched it when we implemented changes to Warlock class”, with specific attention paid to “small details like attack modifiers.” Additionally, an extra attack will also be available as per her developer research.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Pact of the Blade subclass thus becomes more affordable compared to both its magical-based alternatives and other martially focused subclasses.

Larian Studios shows that, no matter its best efforts in adhering to Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition as strictly as it plans, changes may still be implemented so as to optimize features for its vast cRPG experience.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will launch for PC users on August 3, before arriving on PlayStation 5 later that same month.
