How Can I Acquire An Owlbear Cub In BALDU’S GATE 3?

While exploring the Forgotten Realms in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will encounter many creatures – among which are feathery Owlbears with terrifying appearance.

Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to obtain their very own pet Owlbear cub by performing certain actions. Though Owlbear cubs may eventually grow up into troublesome adult bears that devour your flesh when grownup, one glance of its adorable cuteness alone will have them wanting one for themselves!

Baldur’s Gate 3 Owlbears can be found in their cave and the Cub twice during Act 1. To effectively interact with them, however, either Animal Handling Ranger abilities or possessing ability in speaking with animals as any class are needed for success in handling them.

Since you don’t need to kill his mother in order to acquire him as a pet, just head into a cave where there’s an Owlbear Cub that looks identical.

If, on the other hand, you opt to enter this cave, you will not only gain the ability to create an effective weapon against spiders – by collecting from your mother and using her spear tip with that from one of the dead people that told you about its location – but you will also face one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s tougher opponents in battle!

Once its mother is dead, an Owlbear Cub will devour its corpse, disobeying any attempts you might make at communicating with it.

Once at Goblin Camp, it will become evident that its residents are using an Owlbear cub in a game of chicken chasing. At this stage, your task will be to gain their trust by engaging it.

On one hand, it may help to speak to it while it runs around, let it smell you and learn that its fear may stem from goblins attempting to stop her leaving the camp.

On the other hand, conversing with Krolla could involve engaging in a game of chicken chasing with him and an Owlbear cub entering your makeshift arena; once inside, tell it not to worry; goblins won’t harm him once it reaches any post! Both dialogue options require passing checks.

After winning, Krolla must convince himself to give you your winnings; converse with Owlbear cub again about its fear of leaving due to goblins, then talk again with Owlbear cub about its fearful reaction against leaving because of them.

Once completed, all that remains to be done is return to Krolla and inform her of your departure, taking along an Owlbear cub as your companion.

Passing one or more of the checks or using your Illithid ability could result in you taking possession of the cub peacefully; otherwise, goblins might force a confrontation to secure it for themselves.

Before trying to acquire an Owlbear cub, be certain not to kill goblin leaders as this would render its acquisition impossible. Once all steps have been undertaken successfully, an Owlbear cub should arrive shortly at your camp.

Unfortunately, although this unlocks your own Baldur’s Gate 3 Owlbear cub pet, he or she cannot accompany you anywhere at present.

On two different occasions in camp, you have the ability to feed it and treat its hurt paw. Unfortunately, that was all we could offer as assistance.

Perhaps one of the future goals of Baldur’s Gate 3 Owlbears will be joining our fight? Upon further examination during Early Access journey.
