Are You Waiting on Starfield But Still Enjoy Settlement Building? A recent update for one of The Commonwealth’s popular mods should definitely make an appearance on your load order list!
Sim Settlements 2 – Chapter 3 is the final part in Sim Settlements 2, a massive mod that transforms Fallout 4’s simple settlement system into an intricate city-building simulation.
Dubbed ‘Last Stand of the Commonwealth”, this new chapter has been developed by an accomplished group of modders led by Project Manager Kinggath and it requires you to use your settlement empire’s forces to defend against an attempted gunner invasion against The Commonwealth. As seen in its trailer below, this quest encourages players to build an army capable of repelling an invasion that threatens it all.
Practically speaking, this will involve turning your settlements into outposts ideal for recruiting, training and maintaining military forces through adding buildings such as armouries, watchtowers and prisons – though the mod also lets you expand beyond predetermined building locations to claim virtually every space on the map as security posts for your army to secure and patrol.
Your first task in Battle: Establishing Your Command (invoked from Chapter II, as seen here) will be to develop the proper tactics and policies for leading troops into battle, including taking prisoners of war or forging alliances between existing factions and The New Liberty Trading Company, introduced here as well. This chapter introduces another major faction called The New Liberty Trading Company as well, so working closely together between all is vitally important to success!
How you approach these duties will have lasting implications as the story develops – including managing medical treatments of troops and adopting powerful tech brought back by Gunners who return. Multiple endings will also be possible.
Notably, Sim Settlements 2’s chapter description also revealed their intention of offering a prebuild system at some point in the near future, which will enable players to “seed the game world with randomised prebuilt settlements.
