Hogwarts Legacy to Be Crushed By New 2023 RPG on Steam
One of the year’s premier RPGs, Baldur’s Gate III is poised to overshadow Hogwarts Legacy just days after it first released.
Hogwarts Legacy may have outdone Harry Potter films when it comes to profit; earning over $1 billion across Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms alone – yet will soon become obsolete.
Baldur’s Gate III’s launch may quickly eclipse that of Wizarding World on Steam as its concurrent players begin to increase exponentially.
Baldur’s Gate III has seen tremendous success since its release last week, breaking several Steam records and overshadowing even some of its major titles like CS:GO in terms of players.
Now, Baldur’s Gate III is competing directly against another critically-acclaimed RPG: Hogwarts Legacy is currently at 879,308. At press time, Baldur’s Gate III reached an 814,660 peak concurrent player count compared to Hogwarts Legacy which stands at 879,308 concurrents players.
Given how easily accessible the game is – from PCs, Macbooks and even Steamdeck support – its success shouldn’t come as any shock.
However, it still needs some work before it can unseat Harry Potter as the leader in its field – which it certainly will due to its rising popularity.
Though thousands of players have already started immersing themselves in this immersive online role-playing game, console fans still await their port(s). A PlayStation 5 version should arrive by September while Xbox fans must wait slightly longer.
Larian Studios, developers of Baldur’s Gate III for Xbox, recently stated its release is taking longer than planned due to hardware limitations of Xbox Series S which many fans have since criticised. Xbox players could soon gain access to both first and second Baldur’s Gate titles via Game Pass; leaks indicate these titles may soon become accessible within this subscription service.
