Red Dead Redemption’s announcement and price leave fans of Rockstar feeling disappointed; many declare themselves done with them altogether.
Rockstar Games fans are “officially fed up”, following their disappointing announcement of Red Dead Redemption’s remaster for Nintendo Switch and PS4.
Lies and speculation surrounding Red Dead Redemption 1’s return have swirled for months now. Some reports suggested it’d simply be a port, while others claimed it would use Red Dead Redemption 2’s game engine to completely remake its gameplay experience.
Yesterday, speculation, theories and insider claims all culminated when Rockstar Games made an official announcement regarding a port of Red Dead Redemption 2, including Undead Nightmare DLC as predicted, for Nintendo Switch and PS4.
Both versions will be out later this month for $50/39.99 on Switch and PS4, with no modifications being made to either game; just an extension with Undead Nightmare DLC included but without multiplayer support.
Fans were not happy about what was announced as they expected something far different – and PC players felt betrayed after still not receiving their port of the game – something which may never happen now.
Disappointed fans turned to social media and Reddit in order to vent their disappointment; one such user, smoke_woods on Reddit posted “I’m officially done with Rockstar man”, alongside an image showing off its new release.
Others were quick to voice their opinion as soon as Rockstar announced its decision; some felt unsurprised by it while others wondered why Rockstar chose PS4 and Switch instead of current-gen PC platforms like current generation or next gen systems.
“$50? Crazy talk. While Xbox offers it at just $8 and comes equipped with resolution booster technology.”
“Playstation 4? is it the current last generation?”
“Exactly. Can get it much more economically on Xbox. This was what ultimately caused my trust in them to evaporate.”
Red Dead Redemption’s digital and physical releases for Nintendo Switch and PS4 will arrive simultaneously on August 17th; physical copies should arrive shortly thereafter on October 13th. Xbox consoles also support backwards compatibility for this title.
