Starfield teaser confirms one of Skyrim’s stand-out features
Starfield brings one of the best elements from previous Bethesda games – and we couldn’t be more excited! – into play for us to experience.
Starfield has officially arrived, with much anticipation among fans who’ve heard stories of aliens to rival Fallout’s Deathclaws and are excitedly counting down until its launch date on December 7. Many will eagerly anticipate experiencing its good, bad and ugly side for themselves!
Of course, aliens can be exciting; but nothing beats discovering one of our biggest headaches will soon go away: customisation. However, those worried about customisation needn’t worry as Starfield will allow players to change character appearance later in-game if this becomes an issue for you.
Bethesda has proven itself adept at giving players complete control of the appearance of their characters through previous games like Fallout 3, 4, and Skyrim; yet fans have noted that post-release customization options still seem uncommon from other game publishers or developers.
Games who take great pleasure in developing unique characters will appreciate this relief, which Reddit user, binocular_gems captured perfectly: “I’m glad they tell you upfront; otherwise I tend to forget each time I start up a new game and am paralyzed with fear: am I stuck with this person forever?'”.
With so many side quests promised, players need assurances their progress won’t be undone by vanity quests – nobody likes investing over 30 hours into a game only to discover later that your character’s eyebrows don’t quite complement their hair colour!
Free from that anxiety will allow players to dive more easily into Starfield without fear of restarting several missions later on. Although Starfield allows for character customization through appearance changes, certain details pertaining to their background cannot be modified once starting the game.
Naturally it makes sense that editing/deleting large portions of a character’s dossier wouldn’t make much sense and could create numerous plothole issues later down the road.
While details about customisation remain hazy, players have already started discussing gradually ageing their characters as the game unfolds – saying goodbye to child-faced protagonists that have survived years of hardship without showing signs of age.
