An ex-Rockstar Games employee recently claimed Grand Theft Auto VI has been under development for at least 10 years now.

Even after numerous leaks and unverified reports about Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI open world adventure, much remains unknown about its development and release date.

Take-Two Interactive has hinted that Rockstar Games’ 2025 title might release within this decade; we still await confirmation and an official first look of this exciting project.

One former developer for Rockstar Games has provided some fascinating details regarding Grand Theft Auto VI’s development timetable and duration. While remaining unnamed, their LinkedIn post summarises their experience within the gaming industry with one line reading as such: “Grand Theft Auto VI- Lead Video Editor/ Research Dept (2015-2018)

According to this post, Grand Theft Auto VI development began two years after Grand Theft Auto V was first released for purchase.

Fair enough. GTA VI has long been anticipated as being more expansive than GTA V, featuring multiple cities to explore instead of only one. According to industry reports, more detail in its world may also come with it and provide more activities for players.

GTA VI will likely feature an online mode, and players are concerned the next iteration of GTA Online may feature excessive microtransactions akin to what GTA V offered – perhaps given how many millions were generated via them in GTA V alone.

Developer’s resume also included Rockstar games Bully 2 and 3, the sequels released after 2006 Rockstar game release.

Red Dead Redemption fans still aren’t over the disappointing announcement of Red Dead Redemption 1 Remastered being made public; many critics and review-bombers have taken issue with its price point and lack of any new content or improvements whatsoever in comparison with prior ports of Red Dead Redemption 1.

Grand Theft Auto VI has yet to receive an official announcement, though we hope Rockstar has something planned for later in 2018.
