PlayStation 5 RPG to Rival Starfield Succeeds Zelda on Metacritic!
2023 has already proven fruitful for video game lovers and it appears things will only continue improving before 2024 comes around.
From Final Fantasy XVI and its remakes to Dead Space 4 and Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime Remastered and Street Fighter 6, 2017 has truly been one of the finest years ever seen for videogames. Sitting atop Metacritic’s most-acclaimed titles was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or at least it once held that spot!
At present, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has amassed an impressive score of 96 on Metacritic but has recently been overthrown by what could become this year’s surprise hit Baldur’s Gate III with its score of 97 from critics and user scores being 8.4 for Tears of the Kingdom while Larian Studios has outdone itself by having 9.4 user scores versus the 8.4 of Tears of the Kingdom! Thus giving Baldur’s Gate III from Larian Studios an edge on two fronts over its counterpart by Larian Studios’ performance!
Baldur’s Gate III is currently only available on PC; however, PlayStation 5 users should expect it to become available on 6 September (coincidentally also the release date of Starfield) so it will be intriguing to see its performance when Baldur’s Gate III hits consoles.
Due to technical limitations with Xbox Series S consoles, Baldur’s Gate III had originally been set for Xbox Series X|S. Unfortunately due to this setback, its release has been postponed until sometime between early 2024-2025 – hence becoming PS5 exclusive temporarily until then – quite valuable for Sony considering how heavily Bethesda is competing against it with Starfield!
Fans of RPG genre will surely have an eventful end of year celebration!
