Fans remain excited that Red Dead Redemption finally launched for PlayStation 5, as many remain eagerly anticipative of playing it on this console.
No? Don’t feel bad – we struggle too now that Red Dead Redemption’s PlayStation 5 port has hit. We hear what you are saying – especially now the RDR port has arrived on PS5.
What should, technically, bring joy has, instead, caused much animus among fans since learning of its launch on new-gen consoles for $49.99 – which some are even being charged! Fans were initially dismayed to find they would need to spend this much on such an aged title! But fans quickly moved past it when learning of RDR’s return onto new-generation systems with renewed popularity as promised by Konami releasing DLC for it as promised back then!
Following the announcement of an “commercially accurate” price point for The Witcher 3, many fans are taking action by reviewing bombing it online and elsewhere, while others opting for less confrontational approaches by seeking comfort in Reddit; an approach which often goes ignored in such instances of discontentment among fans.
Reddit user Finn_Flame kicked off a thread detailing the port release in what can only be described as blunt terms: “Red Dead Redemption port is coming tomorrow to PS5 and Switch, not as an upgrade, remake, remaster or PS5 version but simply the 2010 game without multiplayer!”
These words of contention were quickly met by other fans with insights into what has come to be known as ‘the death of RDR’. OrangeYawn noted “an outdated game simply being ported doesn’t justify an increase of $20”, to which Justxkyle replied with his trademark irreverence: “That is because it isn’t justified; this move by Activision constitutes what we refer to as a non-gamer move”.
One gamer noted Xbox owners enjoy much better customer support in this area compared to PlayStation players – further fuelling division in console wars. 2OptionsIsNotChoice noted, “Don’t forget you can run Xbox360 versions on modern Xbox consoles for cheaper due to reverse compatibility features of Xbox.”
Now is an opportune moment to lay down arms and accept destiny for what it is; yet fandoms tend not to go quietly into the night; we anticipate further outrage for days or possibly even weeks to come.
Red Dead Redemption is now available on PlayStation 5.
