Starfield, unquestionably one of the most anticipated games this year, will finally hit shelves very shortly and I for one can hardly wait. Bethesda have made big promises regarding Starfield; hopefully all their promises can come to pass and it can become one of Bethesda’s GOTY contenders – I personally cannot wait for its arrival and can’t wait to dive in myself!

Starfield will feature over 1,000 explorable planets where you’ll encounter an “astonishing” number of side quests, from criminal justice systems and housing markets, to finding four companions from up to 20 available options. Yesterday alone we witnessed details regarding some sidequests such as this. Bethesda appears to have created an immersive universe which invites all of us to linger within its confines, with news today of the game going gold allowing those with Xbox consoles to pre-download now. Recently however, fans of Starfield have voiced concerns that negative vibes might be directed toward it for no discernable reason and are worried that any negativity being shown towards it might bring it down further. Unfortunately this now seems to be happening as some haters threaten review bombing the game for seemingly no discernible purpose.

On social media, some individuals are making threats of reviewing bombing Starfield. NikoMueller managed to capture an image from Twitter user @XbotTears360 who announced her intentions by tweeting, “Starting account one out of 1,000. Goodbye Starfield score!” alongside an image from Metacritic. NikoMueller captioned his screenshot with, “Dear Metacritic, some individuals seem confident and prepared to misuse your platform to defame future games publicly and proudly… This screenshot is one of many.”

Another example read as follows: “Don’t worry. I have spoken with many PS gamers. One even has 600 Metacritic accounts ready to review bomb the game.” Doesn’t anyone hate this unnecessary return of console wars mentality? For most gamers today, console warfare is over; Xbox is great, PS is great, Nintendo Switch and PC all play their parts; so why does a minority try overwrite that narrative through review bombing?”

Users in the Starfield subreddit have expressed this sentiment repeatedly. Agitated_Carrot3025 wrote “I simply don’t understand it; there are tons of PS5 and Switch games which don’t run on either my X or PC that I don’t review bomb.” One user responded “User reviews should never be taken seriously,” while TiredReader87 added, “That is exactly why Metacritic reviews are meaningless – kids just review bomb popular games just for kicks!” The main thing we should remember is that Starfield will soon be ours to enjoy.
