Ubisoft cancelled a game called ‘Elden Ring meets Zelda,’ and I am now sad
Why did Ubisoft cancel the Fenyx Rising sequel that was planned to combine Elden Ring with The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker?
It was announced a few weeks back that Ubisoft had planned to release the underrated gem Fenyx Rising before cancelled in favor of other projects.
According to reports, the sequel has been scrapped to focus development efforts onto the upcoming Assassin’s Creed RED. This game is so large that it’s reportedly warranted scrapping an entire separate game to make. The details of the cancelled sequel are now available online. It’s a sad day for gamers everywhere.
Fenyx Rising was a dive into the Greek pantheon, but the sequel introduces Polynesian gods that the player will encounter, and from whom they can borrow abilities and powers. Axios reported that The Immortals II would be set in a Polynesian open-world, including New Zealand, Tahiti and Easter Island. One source described it as “a game very different from Ubisoft’s other portfolio.”
The Immortals II was inspired by FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed Elden Ring, which forced players to decide where they should go and how to proceed. It would require the player to pay attention to what is around them like the stars and wind direction to determine a route to their goal like Zelda’s boat sailing.
The project, despite all that sounded amazing and despite several hours of internal gameplay developed, was apparently shelved because of concerns about costs.
Several Assassin’s creed games are currently in development, according to an insider. Several Assassin’s Creed titles are in development. The next one, Assassin’s Creed mirage is set for release this year. a full week earlier because the game has officially gone gold.
Ubisoft should reconsider their decision in the near future. It would be great to have another installment in the Immortals franchise.
