PlayStation 3’s price has divided fans already
Sony announced recently the price and specifications for its new PlayStation portable device, and many fans were disappointed.
The PlayStation Portal, formerly known as Project Q should have been a moment of joy for Sony enthusiasts, but this is far from reality. Sony fans have called for a new portable console to be released following the death of the PS Vita, which was a travesty.
It has an 8″ LCD display that can run at 1080p 60 frames per second. The 8-inch screen is capable of 1080p at 60fps, which should be stunning when you play God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West. The retail price of PS199.99/$199.99 is also a fair cost for a portable console capable of playing PS5 titles.
What’s wrong, you may ask? It’s not that the PlayStation Portal was designed to be a handheld device like the PS Vita, or Nintendo SwitchLite. DualSense is a streaming feature on a device.
It is also a streaming gadget, so it requires a strong Wi-Fi signal to connect with your PlayStation. It is not possible to play this device while on the move. Some find the cost of this device to be unreasonable, especially when they consider the fact that Xbox and PlayStation can now stream games directly to mobile devices via accessories like the Turtle Beach Atom for a fraction the price.
It is worth mentioning that the PlayStation Portal will likely provide a better Remote Play experience than an Android or iOS phone. Reddit users have voiced their displeasure at the price of Sony’s latest toy.
CaptJaxSilver said, “I can’t justify $200 when I use Remote Play and my dualSense and it works well 90 percent of the time,” Gamers are concerned about the fact that the PlayStation Portal, as of the date this article was written, is not compatible with PS Plus Cloud Streaming. No PS+ cloud streaming for the new handheld device? Fullbryte exclaimed, “What a missed chance!”
The PlayStation Portal does not have Bluetooth. This means that your wireless headset will be incompatible with the device. Sony didn’t integrate Bluetooth into this device so audio has to be locked in the Sony Link technology. This technology is only used by two brand-new wireless headphones.
The only audio accessory compatible with the PlayStation portal are Sony’s Pulse Elite Headset (PS129.99/$149.99) and Pulse Explore Earbuds, which retail for PS199.99/$199.99.
There is no release date for the PlayStation Portal yet. However, it will be later in this year. The pre-orders should be available very soon.
